Our CEO, Lalit Chordia, started his first company in 1990. This was one of the first Supercritical CO2 companies in the world. This work led to a group of companies that excelled in Supercritical Technologies and advancing Energy Efficient Solutions. Over 6 companies have been started with 2 major acquisitions, and has now led to Thar Heat Pumps going commercial. With our 30 years of R&D behind our solutions, we offer some of the most novel and advanced Heat Pump Solutions on the market.

Sustainability

We are leading the way in the use of reduced energy, low carbon products combined to supply heating and cooling. We have decided to put our focus on two fronts: Optimizing Heat Transfer and Energy Usage. This has brought us to Heat Pumps. Our solutions give users the ability to make their operations more compact, combine their heating and cooling solutions, avoid fossil fuels, and even reduce electricity usage.

Thar: R&D Leaders Pushing the Technological Boundaries

Thar’s team is deeply experienced, and are at the leading edge of their field, participating in a number of US Government R&D Programs. We are the first to establish a commercial scale, direct exchange, geothermal, heating and cooling heat pump system using CO2. We have been recognized with numerous accolades, including Lalit’s Ernst & Young 2017 Regional Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

Thar Technologies was formed.
Thar was awarded a grant by the NIST Alternative Tech Program for micro refrigeration.

Thar Energy spun out as a separate company.
Demonstrated a successful application of a geothermal pump for cooling purposes using air handline units.
2011
Built the first ground source heat pump using R744 (CO2).
Showcased radiant snow melt.
2013
Engineered ground source heat pump with radiant heating and cooling.
Demonstrations of copper and stainless steel geoloops; and retrofit A/C with geothermal pump.
2015
Extremely compact, affordable and highly effective micro-channel heat exchangers were developed.

Built high temperature bare tube heater.
High Temperature recuperators were developed by Thar.
